First, verify that Payroll is not running while you are trying to install the payroll update. If it is running, Exit the payroll program and run the 7.8 payroll update installer again.
Second, check to see if the pay.exe application or the Payroll folder have gotten marked as “Read Only” in the Attributes. You will need to navigate to the payroll folder/pay application using the Windows Explorer program. Right click on the folder/application and select Properties. If the Attributes on the general tab are marked Read Only, remove the mark and Apply the changes. Close the Properties window and run the 7.8 payroll update installer to update your payroll program.
